One of the current most important and costly resources is education. After high school, the majority of people look for financial aid to pursue a career that requires years of college. In this case, the most wanted type of financial aid is scholarship. To get a scholarship is a privilege. Getting a scholarship will help your future career because they are given out based on merit. Some scholarships are so great that you can use them on your CV as achievements. It is used as an example for aspiring candidates.
Indian students will get different types of financial aid from the Indian government. Indian government helps Indian students in their education if they choose to study in India or other countries.
Below are the scholarships given by the government:
1. Central sector scholarship scheme:
The scholarship is provided to people whose background is financially disadvantaged and who want to study after class 8th in a private school or government school. Applications for this scholarship are accepted each year from August to October. The National Scholarship Portal is the only way to apply.
Eligibility: Students who are in college or university if they are good in their studies ( if they are higher in 12th grade). If they prove they are financially struggling families ( their income is below Rs. 8 lakh)
Benefits: The central sector scholarship scheme provides an annual amount ranging from Rs. 10000 to 20000.
2. National Means-cum-Merit Scholarships:
This scholarship will be provided to students whose families earn money less than Rupees 1.5 lakh yearly. This scholarship is provided to the students in classes from 9th to 12th, it’s depends on how students performed well in the exams of last year.
Eligibility: This scholarship is provided to students whose background is financially disadvantaged (if the student’s annual income family is less than Rs. 1.5 lakh) studying in classes 9th to 10th. The student’s selection is based on both merit of academic and financial need.
Benefits: The students will get financial help of up to Rupees 12000 per year.
3. AICTE Pragati Scholarship:
The AICTE Pragati Scholarship is for students who studied technical subjects at the undergraduate level and diploma. They provide financial support to students whose background is economically disadvantaged. September to October is when applications are accepted each year. It is important to apply online through the National Scholarship portal.
Eligibility: This scholarship is for those students from scheduled Tribes, scheduled castes, and Other Backward classes who want to do postgraduate technical education programs like M.Arch, M.Tech, and MBA.
Benefits: A scholarship is provided to the students who belong to SC, ST, and OBC categories.
4. AICTE Saksham Scholarship:
The AICTE Saksham Scholarship is for students with disabilities who are studying technical subjects. It provides financial aid to help the students with tuition fees and other expenses. September to October is when applications are accepted each year. It is important to apply online through the National Scholarship portal.
Eligibility: This is for students with disabilities who are studying for diplomas or undergraduate degrees.
Benefits: they provide financial aid and support services for students with disabilities.
5. Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship:
This fellowship is provided to students who are doing PhD in science, engineering, technology, mathematics, social science, humanities, and law. It provides a generous fellowship.
Eligibility: This Fellowship is for PhD students enrolled in research fields such as technology, mathematics, science, engineering, and health care at PMRF-approved institutions.
Benefits: They give a fellowship of more than Rupees 10.92 lakh annually for 4 years. The government will provide half of the funding and the rest is given by an industry partner.
